Sir Terry Farrell is one of the UK’s leading urban designers and is a prominent adviser to government leaders on the future development of London and its infrastructure. This book draws on Terry’s childhood fascination with biology and Charles Darwin’s famous theory of ‘the tangled bank’ to describe his views, as a practitioner, on the emergent forces at work as the world’s cities grow and develop.

Free: assisted with the structuring and editing of the book, establishing a clear narrative thread. With many anecdotes about his formative years and subsequent experiences working on high profile urban projects worldwide, an important task was to maintain the author’s entertaining narrative style throughout , connecting his practice with established theories on urbanism.
