Site-specific installation at the Italian Pavilion for the 2004 Venice Architecture Biennale.

Project management, content development, launch events

Wilkinson Eyre was invited to create an installation at the prestigious Italian Pavilion by the director of the 2004 Architecture Biennale, Kurt W. Forster. Exhibiting alongside leading architects from around the world, this was the practice’s first real opportunity to show its work on an international stage.

Drawing inspiration from the unique maritime character of the city, the installation took reflections as its central theme, with carefully lit models mirrored in a huge water table which appeared to float in the darkened space.

The installation, designed in collaboration with artist Bill Pye and Francesco Draisci, was later displayed at The Wapping Project in East London.
